The Huber L. and Virginia Mollenkopf Scholarship for Excellence in Accounting
The Huber L. and Virginia Mollenkopf Scholarship for Excellence in Accounting was established in 1997 with a gift from Mr. Huber L. Mollenkopf, affectionately known as “Molly,” and a matching gift from GenCorp. The scholarship is named for Huber L. Mollenkopf and his wife, Virginia, loyal friends and benefactors of The University of Akron. Mr. Mollenkopf is an honorary alumnus of The George W. Daverio School of Accountancy and has been recognized for his contributions to the integrity of the accounting field through his distinguished career at The General Tire and Rubber Company. It is his intention for this endowed fund to be used annually to support outstanding students in The George W. Daverio School of Accountancy. Mr. Mollenkopf is also an honorary member of Beta Alpha Psi, has served as national vice president and member of the national board now known as the Institute of Management Accountants, and has been a member and former officer of the Honorary Stuart Cameron McLeod Society. The recipient shall be an accounting major, have high grades like those of an honor student (although the award shall not be restricted to honor students), be active on campus, have high ethics, and have strong leadership capabilities. The student should have the urge to build for his/her future performance of excellence. The selection of students will be performed by the head of the School of Accountancy with the assistance of accounting professors and approval by the dean of the College of Business Administration.
