The Anthony J. Cardarelli Scholarship
Established in 1978 by Anthony J. Cardarelli, Sheriff of Summit County, Ohio, this scholarship fund provides $750 annually in tuition assistance, to be shared upon selection by children of full-time deputy sheriffs of the Summit County Sheriff’s Department and children of full-time police officers of all the police departments in Summit County.
A scholarship board consisting of the Sheriff of Summit County or his designee, a member of the Criminal Justice Department faculty and the Director of Student Financial Aid at The University of Akron selects the recipients of the Sheriff Anthony J. Cardarelli Criminal Justice Scholarship Fund on the basis of their academic achievement in high school or as an undergraduate at the University, and the quality of their citizenship activities. Selection is made without regard to race, creed, color, or sex.
