PwC Alumni Award in Honor of David Manyuon
The PwC Alumni Scholarship Award is named in honor of David Manyuon, one of the Lost Boys of Africa who originated from the Sudan. Manyuon overcame overwhelming hardship as one of the Lost Boys and persevered. He was admitted to The University of Akron’s George W. Daverio School of Accountancy in 2007 and graduated with a B.S. in accounting in 2011. Contributions from many supporters of this non-endowed scholarship award helped fund much of Manyuon’s education at The University of Akron.
Originally created in 2007, the scholarship is intended to support high-achieving students in the School of Accountancy who plan to become accounting or tax professionals. It has been revised to specify support for both graduate and undergraduate students. The funds may be used for undergraduate scholarships, awards, and to support graduate assistantship stipends for high-achieving graduate students who are pursing either a master’s degree in accounting or taxation.
The chair and faculty of the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy will select students for the award each year.
Alumni and friends of the School of Accountancy who are/were employed by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) established The PwC Alumni Scholarship Award in Honor of David Manyuon. Alumni and friends, including former PwC employees, may contribute to the scholarship.
