Ronald R. and Dr. Diane C. Fisher Scholarship

The Ronald R. and Dr. Diane C. Fisher Scholarship in Professional Sales, non-endowed fund, was established at The University of Akron in November 2017 by Dr. Diane C. Fisher, a friend and member of the University’s Board of Trustees. Dr. Fisher also is an emeritus member of The University of Akron Foundation Board of Directors.

In 1993, Diane co-founded The Ronald R. and Diane C. Fisher Institute for Professional Selling in the College of Business Administration, and at that time, enabling the University to establish one of only 13 certified professional sales programs in the world.

Through outreach programs, applied research and a variety of other activities, the Fisher Institute is shaping the next generation of sales professionals as well as promoting professional sales as a rewarding and fulfilling lifetime career choice.

Diane’s continued interest and investment in the Fisher Institute through The Ronald R. and Dr. Diane C. Fisher Scholarship in Professional Sales will provide important resources to attract and retain students in the sales program.

The Ronald R. and Dr. Diane C. Fisher Scholarships in Professional Sales will be awarded to students enrolled in and completing one of the three sales credentials offered through the College of Business Administration and the Ronald R. and Diane C. Fisher Institute for Professional Selling. Fisher Scholarships will be awarded based upon academic performance, GPA and other announced criteria. These awards would incentivize students to enroll in sales credential offerings, stay in that course of study and continue to graduation.

Fisher scholarships will be awarded competitively, based on the completion of required coursework toward either the: (i) Major in Sales Management, (ii) the Minor in Sales Management, or (iii) the Certificate in Professional Sales. Scholarship awards will be conferred at the end of each academic year (spring) to qualified students completing the salient sales credential (i.e., major, minor, or certificate), and otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for their credential’s scholarship level and offering.

The director of the Fisher Institute, in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Aid and the Department of Marketing Scholarship Committee, will select recipients and distribute awards based on funds available.
