Charles Schwab Foundation Scholars in Financial Planning Scholarship

The Charles Schwab Foundation is an independent nonprofit public benefit corporation, funded by The Charles Schwab Corporation and classified by the IRS as a charity under section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation is neither a part of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. (member SIPC) nor its parent company, The Charles Schwab Corporation. Its mission is to educate, volunteer and advocate on behalf of those in need so that everyone has the opportunity to achieve financial well-being. More information is available at https://www.aboutschwab.com/citizenship.

It is the desire of the Charles Schwab Foundation that in awarding The Charles Schwab Foundation Scholars in Financial Planning Scholarship, the University of Akron first matches it to African American undergraduate students, and then to undergraduate students in other underrepresented groups in the College of Business Administration, who are in their junior year or beyond, and who are admitted into the College of Business Administration’s Financial Planning major, to fund financial aid packages that those students would otherwise not be awarded. The Scholarship shall be awarded to full-time students in good standing. Transfer students shall be eligible to receive the Scholarship. There shall be no minimum GPA requirement. Only students who fill out the College’s Student and Transfer Student Scholarship Application by the College’s annual deadline will be eligible for consideration, provided they’ve met the above criteria and have met all requirements the College deems necessary to be considered for College scholarships, as well as requirements demanded by the Financial Planning major.

The Charles Schwab Foundation Scholars in Financial Planning Scholarship may be renewable if recipients continue to meet all the above stated criteria and are deemed eligible to receive scholarship support, as provided in the Addendum.

The University of Akron’s College of Business Administration in consultation with Financial Planning faculty, in its sole discretion and without input from CSF, shall determine the awardees of the Scholarships pursuant to the terms of the Gift Agreement and this Addendum. CSF shall not be involved in the selection of Scholarship recipients.
