The Edward W. and Florence A. Fitzgerald Scholarship Fund
The Edward W. and Florence A. Fitzgerald Scholarship Fund was established in 1994 by Dr. Phyllis A. Fitzgerald, assistant dean and associate professor for the College of Nursing, to honor her parents, Edward W. and Florence A. Fitzgerald. Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald provided support to Dr. Fitzgerald when she initially entered nursing and when she expanded both her theoretical foundation and clinical skills.
Edward and Florence Fitzgerald have always been advocates for higher education. Mr. Fitzgerald was a teacher for 37 years in a public school system until his death in 1964.
Original funding will be made through annual gifts provided by Dr. Phyllis A. Fitzgerald for the benefit of Nursing students. Preference will be given to students with grade point averages between 2.7 and 2.9.
