Joseph C. Hete & Family Endowed Scholarship
Joseph C. Hete established The Joseph C. Hete & Family Endowed Scholarship to provide opportunity and encouragement for students seeking to achieve life goals through higher education. Like his six siblings, Mr. Hete is a graduate of The University of Akron. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1976. Today, Mr. Hete is president and CEO of ABX Air Inc., a cargo airline with a fleet of more than 100 aircraft. Mr. Hete has been with ABX Air Inc. since its inception in 1980. He was named president and COO of the company in 2000 and to his present position in 2003. He has been a director of the company since 1988. Mr. Hete is married and the father of four children.
The purpose of The Joseph C. Hete & Family Endowed Scholarship is to provide scholarship support in the form of tuition assistance, books and/or fees, for students in The University of Akron’s College of Business. Applicants for The Joseph C. Hete & Family Endowed Scholarship are expected to be employed on a part- or full-time basis and have a demonstrated financial need. Applicants must submit an essay that visions their future careers. The Joseph C. Hete & Family Scholarship will be awarded by The University of Akron’s College of Business Administration, working in conjunction with the Office of Student Financial Aid.
