The Oscar A. Hunsicker Family Scholarship in Law
The Oscar A. Hunsicker Family Scholarship in Law commemorates the life and legal careers of three generations of University of Akron School of Law graduates: Judge Oscar A. Hunsicker Sr. (1898-1983), Oscar A. Hunsicker Jr. (1922-2010), and J. Bruce Hunsicker (1953-2010). Highly respected educators, attorneys, and legal representatives, the Hunsickers will live on in the hearts of their family, the community, and the School of Law.
The Oscar A. Hunsicker Family Scholarship in Law was announced at the May 28, 1981, commencement ceremony through a grant of $2,000 from the School of Law class of 1981. Since its founding, the scholarship has grown by the generosity of alumni, friends, and in particular, the Hunsicker family. The scholarship name was renamed in 2010 to honor the legal legacy of Judge Oscar A. Hunsicker Sr.; his son, Oscar A. Hunsicker Jr.; and grandson J. Bruce Hunsicker.
The endowed scholarship fund provides tuition assistance to deserving students enrolled in good standing in the School of Law on the basis of financial need, leadership capability, academic achievement, and professional bearing. The award(s) will be determined upon recommendation of the School of Law Scholarship Committee.
