the Joseph W. and Rachel M. White Endowed Scholarship Fund for Children
The Rachel M. White Endowed Scholarship Fund for Children was established in December 2001 through contributions by family and friends of Rachel M. White. Rachel was an individual who positively affected everyone she met through her spirit of grace and kindness. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife, and her family remained her priority throughout a successful 30-year career with General Motors. She guided her three children to adulthood, instilling in them an appreciation for education, community, and for helping others. She was a friend and helpmate to Joseph White Jr., her husband for 35 years.
This fund shall be used to assist a student pursuing a degree in social work or elementary education. Recipients must demonstrate financial need, must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5, and participate in at least one community service organization. The scholarship is eligible for renewal until graduation. Preference will be given to students who plan a career in service to the needs of minority children. The family believes these criteria will best honor the legacy of Rachel M. White.
