the Darrel and Jean Witters Music Scholarship Fund
The Darrel and Jean Witters Scholarship Fund was established in 1975 with contributions by alumni and friends of The University of Akron and with proceeds from the 1975-1976 Akron Sesquicentennial and United States Bicentennial Concert Series. This scholarship fund is in memory of Darrel Witters, associate professor of music from 1941 to 1972, conductor of the University Band and the Akron Municipal Band, and his wife, Jean, a 1966 University of Akron alumna. Mr. Witters died in 1973 and Mrs. Witters in 2004. The scholarship fund provides tuition assistance for worthy and talented students enrolled in the School of Music. The recipient will be selected by the Office of Student Financial Aid.
