Julia and William Mossor Scholarship

The Julia and William Mossor Scholarship was established in January 2019 to support outstanding academic students at The University of Akron who demonstrate financial need.

Julia graduated from The University of Akron, receiving two degrees – an associate’s degree, with distinction, in 1990 in Marketing and Sales Technology-Fashion, and a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in 1991 in Clothing, Textiles and Interiors-Business. Faced with financial struggles, Julia considered withdrawing from the University before her brother, now a college professor, encouraged her to complete her degree. Sharing a passion for helping students in similar circumstances, Julia and William Mossor have generously established this scholarship.

The Julia and William Mossor Scholarship shall be awarded to outstanding academic students at The University of Akron who have demonstrated financial need. First consideration will be given to incoming freshman who enroll with and maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA. Additional consideration shall be given to female students who meet the requirements. In the event no candidate as described above is identified, the scholarship may be made to any student who most closely meets the above requirements.

Recipient selection shall be made by the University Scholarship Committee. The scholarship may be renewed as long as the recipient remains eligible and in good academic standing, and has a current scholarship application on file with the Office of Student Financial Aid.
