Lisa S. Perry Scholarship
The brilliant and special life of two-year old Megan Littlejohn came to a tragic end in July 2012 as a result of a car accident. But the spark of love she lit among her family and all who knew her helped her family, her parents, older brother and extended family through their grief. The amazing support they received from friends and family, as well as Child Life Specialists and Grief Counselors, helped them begin the journey forward, toward healing. The Megan Littlejohn Foundation was established in Megan’s cherished memory and to help other families going through similar tragedies. The foundation currently supports Cornerstone of Hope’s child counseling services and Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital Child Life Department.
The Lisa S. Perry Scholarship was established in 2017, and revised in 2018 and 2020, by the Megan Littlejohn Foundation in honor of Lisa Perry, a Child Life Specialist who provided invaluable support to the Littlejohn family.
The Lisa S. Perry Scholarship shall be awarded to a deserving full- or part-time University of Akron student in the College of Health Professions with a 3.0 grade point average (GPA). Recipients may be pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree with first consideration given to students in the School of Social Work.
Recipients will be selected by a UA faculty committee in coordination with Megan Littlejohn Foundation board members, with decisions based on candidates’ academic standing, need for financial assistance, and a strong commitment to and history of community outreach.
