Chapel/Office of Multicultural Development Scholarship
A passionate advocate for the City of Akron and its young people, The Chapel’s Sr. Pastor Knute Larson. in conjunction with The University of Akron Office of Multicultural Development. created a scholarship that will provide grant-in-aid assistance to a deserving young person or persons who meet the following criteria: first generation college student: graduate of Akron Public School District; and enrolled full-time at The University of Akron. Two letters of reference and demonstrated financial need are also required. Renewal of this scholarship is not guaranteed; however, students may apply for renewal for up to three years contingent upon fund availability and the students· ability to meet all scholarship requirements.
This scholarship is available for a high school graduate first entering The University of Akron and who has a 3.25 GPA, and for a continuing University of Akron student with a 3.25 GPA.
For the 2009-2010 academic year, two scholarships will be presented in the amount of $3,000 each. Recipients are expected to attend an awards dinner on September 26, 2009. Similar distributions and attendance requirements may be expected in future years.
The scholarship recipient(s) will be selected by a committee including a representative from The Chapel, The Office of Multicultural Development, and Financial Aid.
